Spatial analysis of waste land problems in Ballia District using remote sensing and geographical information system

Abstract

The existing research paper deals with spatial analysis of waste land problems in Ballia district (250 33' N to 260 11' N latitude and 830 38' E to 840 39' E longitude) using the techniques of geo-informatics such as remote sensing and geographical information system (GIS). The study and mapping of various wastelands have been explained and analyzed under categories of (i) waterlogged and marshy land, (ii) land affected by salinity/alkalinity, (iii) land affected by sand, (iv) gullied/ravinous land, (v) land infested with shrubs and bushes, (vi) flood affected land
